The Feast of Trumpets, also known as Rosh Hashanah, is an annual feast celebrated from sundown today, September 21, to sundown Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The feast is one of three Fall festivals established by the Lord in Leviticus 23.
Leviticus 23:
23 ¶ Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
24 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month, you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing [of trumpets], a holy convocation.
25 ‘You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.’”
Keep in mind that the seventh month in the Jewish calendar is September because the first month of the Jewish year begins with Passover, which coincides with our Easter Season in the Spring. So mid- to late September is the beginning of the seventh month. Convocation means a public meeting or assembly. Note in verse 25, we should consider a special offering to the Lord, over and above the tithe. I urge you to make such an offering today, or in the near future, in honor of the Feast of the Trumpets.
The trumpet sound is associated with the prophesied Rapture in the scriptures. The trumpet is an indication of war, and Jesus will come to rapture us just in time to avoid the warlike events of the Tribulation. Bible experts believe the Rapture will come in a dark moment when the Lord decides enough is enough, and the season of grace is completed. Yes, darkness like we are seeing today is a sign that the Rapture is imminent.
Some believe the Rapture could occur during the Feast of Trumpets although not necessarily this year. Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour but we will know the season. The Feast of Trumpets is a multi-day holiday that comes near the end of the harvest season. I am not prophesying that the Rapture will come today or in the next two days, but it is true that we are living in a season of darkness and spiritual warfare is becoming intense. I pray it will not surprise us if we hear the sound of war soon.
Let us not stumble or get hung up over a precise prophesy of the Rapture. But let us live with this knowledge in our heart and let us look forward to the day when He rescues us from this present evil and reunites us and our loved ones with Him in the air.
The Lord has the following scriptures for us today, to honor the Feast of Trumpets and to focus on the promised sound of the trumpet, which will alert us that the day of the Lord is at hand.
1st Corinthians 15:
50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
51 ¶ Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.
55 “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not [in] vain in the Lord. (NASB)
Joel 2:
28 ¶ “And it will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.
29 “And even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
30 “And I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire, and columns of smoke.
31 “The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.
32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.
1st Thessalonians 4:
13 ¶ But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of [the] archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Comfort one another with the Lord’s promise of the Rapture.
Let us pray for those who have not yet received Jesus in their heart, that they would repeat this prayer with me, and call on the name of the Lord, and be saved.
Father God, I acknowledge before You that I am a sinner not worthy of eternal salvation. For this reason, I ask Jesus into my heart today, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord of my life. I believe with all my heart that You raised Him from the dead for the forgiveness of my sins. Thank You, Father, that I am saved for all eternity by grace, and not by my works.
Jesus, I ask you to send the Holy Spirit to change me, to crucify my flesh, to speak into my spirit, and to lead me into all truth. I believe all that is written in Your word, and I pray You will help me to walk in love. I forgive all who have hurt me, and I ask Your help in walking in forgiveness from this day forth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
