Happy Resurrection Sunday to you all! It is the day that commemorates the victory of our Lord and Savior Jesus over death and the cross, an event that opens the door for us to eternal salvation. After He was raised, Jesus said all authority had been granted to Him.
Matthew 28:
16 ¶ But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.
17 And when they saw Him, they worshiped [Him]; but some were doubtful.
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Moreover, this is the day that God generated resurrection power, what Paul calls a “surpassing greatness of His power toward us.” I pray, as the Apostle Paul did, that your heart might be enlightened by the knowledge of this momentous event.
Ephesians 1:
18 [I pray that] the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. [These are] in accordance with the working of the strength of His might
20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly [places],
21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.
22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
23 which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all.
Let not your heart be troubled. Instead, allow your heart to be enlightened. Brighten your outlook. Know the hope of His calling. Know that there are riches to the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
That word “inheritance” in verse 18 is key to today’s word of the Lord. We have an inheritance associated with the resurrection of Jesus. We get a great inheritance because we accepted Jesus in our hearts.
Verse 19 says there is a surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe in accordance with the working of the strength of His might. Guess what? We inherit that power. We inherit a surpassing power according to the strength that raised Him from the dead. That’s a power that opened that grave and seated Him at the right hand in heavenly places.
And get verse 21. That power that we inherit seated Jesus far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. Verse 22 tells us the power we inherit puts all things in subjection under His feet.
So, all things are under the feet of the One King who has all authority.
And the good news is that He is coming again to rule and reign and wage war against the kings and nations of the earth who stand against His righteousness.
Revelation 19:
11 ¶ And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it [is] called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
12 And His eyes [are] a flame of fire, and upon His head [are] many diadems; and He has a name written [upon Him] which no one knows except Himself.
13 And [He is] clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white [and] clean, were following Him on white horses.
15 And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
There is only One King who matters. That is the One who is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. The One whom God raised and the One who is coming again.
If you haven’t yet received Jesus in your heart, you can do so right now by praying this prayer:
Father God, I repent of my sin, and today I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord of my life. I believe in my heart that He suffered and died on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead and seated Him in heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. Jesus, I invite You into my heart and I pray You will send the Holy Spirit to change me by empowering me to avoid all schemes of the devil. In Your name, I pray this prayer. Amen.
Allow your heart to be enlightened with the knowledge of Resurrection Sunday. Walk in the power and authority you have over the devil, power that you inherited from Jesus.
Jesus is called the First Fruits of the Resurrection. We are the full harvest of His Resurrection, meaning we will be with Him for all eternity. Glory to His name forever! Hail to the One King with all authority! Hail to Jesus our King!
Let us pray.
Father God, we thank You for the hope of His calling and for the surpassing greatness of His power toward those of us who believe. Thank You that we inherit that power and authority over the enemy. Help us to go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
