About the House of Hope Online

Here is the audio version:
Welcome to the House of Hope Online, a blog / podcast website that seeks the Spirit of the Lord for a word of hope for today.
My name is Bill Giuliani, a believer in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior who suffered and died a torturous death but was victoriously raised from the dead by Almighty God so that we all may have eternal salvation. The Bible teaches us in Romans 10:9 that if we confess with our mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. If you haven’t yet done that, I encourage you today to ask Jesus into your heart, and He will give you the words to confess with your mouth and the faith to believe all that the Bible says about Him.
As Christians, we believe that the Holy Bible is the inerrant word of God, and as 2nd Timothy 3:16 says, all scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching. We also believe according to John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit reveals the scriptures, guides us into all truth, and discloses what is to come. While we are not without sin, we wish to be in the center of God’s will as He reveals it to us through His Holy Spirit. When we sin, we ask Jesus to forgive us and strengthen us to turn away from evil.
I am married to Nancy Davis Giuliani, and we are the parents of Will, Anthony, Jonathan, and Laura (Giuliani) Balash. We are also grandparents to Liam and Aiden Giuliani (Will’s sons), and Hailey and Riley Balash. My children have encouraged me to start this blog / podcast, the purpose of which is to share what the Lord speaks to me, so that hopefully it will bless others.
Nearly 20 years ago, Nancy and I began hosting in our home a small group known as the House of Hope, a name that the Lord gave us through a prophetic word uttered under the unction of the Holy Spirit. When we stopped meeting as a small group in person, I continued to share words through email messages each week, and thus the name “House of Hope Online” was born. This blog / podcast is the next step for House of Hope Online because we know Jesus wants the Gospel to spread for salvations, and He wants His words to guide and grow His believers through the Holy Spirit.
I like to seek the Lord for a word, for whatever He wants to speak into my spirit. Sometimes the word comes spontaneously even when I am not seeking it. He always brings scriptures to me, and He reveals something new and exciting. When He speaks into my spirit, even if it is a word of correction for me, it is always uplifting and never condemning. Jesus knows the weakness of our flesh and is eager to forgive our failures and to encourage our repentance and growth.
He often speaks into Nancy or one of my children, and when that happens, it will become the word for these pages. Lately, He has also been giving words and music to my daughter Laura Balash, who has her own blog, named “Another way through the Way.” Laura has been learning to play the piano, and God is pouring in music that we will also share here. My oldest son, Will, is a technology advisor for both blogs, and a great source of encouragement for me to do this. I could not have launched this site without the help of Will and Laura, and the support of Anthony and Jon, who chipped in on some high-quality audio equipment.
I was born and raised in West Aliquippa, PA, a small steel town near Pittsburgh. While I was raised as Roman Catholic and Nancy as Presbyterian, our family has spent time in United Methodist, Assembly of God, and various non-denominational Christian churches over the years. Today we are non-denominational Christians who rely on the guidance of Jesus in all areas of our life.
My testimony of Jesus Christ is a simple one. In the early 1980s, I was a young, proud businessman, husband, and father, living in Indiana, PA. I considered myself a believer, but I didn’t really know Jesus on a personal level, and more importantly, I never relied on Him for direction in my life. Frankly, I trusted my own ability to handle life’s problems. Nancy was encouraging me in those days to give my frustrations to the Lord, but I really didn’t know what that meant, and frankly I wasn’t wired to rely on anyone but myself. One day, I was alone in my car, driving to a Pittsburgh Pirates game, and I was very frustrated with a business problem I had. At the time, I was President of the Board of Directors of the Indiana County YMCA, and faced a very difficult problem that I couldn’t solve. I cried out to Jesus in anger: “Okay, I give up! I give this over to You – now fix it!” I immediately felt the anointing of the Lord, so I parked the car near downtown Pittsburgh and the Lord poured into my spirit a seven-step plan. I wrote down the plan, looked up from my notebook, and saw across the river a YMCA sign on the Downtown Y’s building. About a week later when I presented the proposal, I received overwhelming acceptance of it from the Board. The Lord taught me, in that brief visitation, that I was not alone and that He was willing and able to help me with my work, just as he helped His disciples as fishermen and as fishers of men. And He has been consistently faithful to me in that promise ever since. I accepted Him in my heart that day, and later confessed it with my mouth and believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.
Our family hopes that the words that flow forth on this blog and through the podcasts will be a blessing to you. That is our sole purpose here – to be a blessing by sharing the word of God while giving all the glory to Jesus, without whom this would not be possible. May God bless you as you read and listen to His word!
